Installed around the chimney flue, the stone cage allows additional sauna stones to absorb heat from the chimney pipe, increasing overall heat retention in the sauna.
When water is poured over the stones, the heat stored in both the heater stones and the chimney stones helps produce longer-lasting and richer sauna steam. As the water flows from the stone cage down to the heater stones, the steam continues to build, creating a smoother and more consistent sauna experience.
In addition to improving steam performance, the stone cage also helps reduce the required safety distance to nearby combustible materials, providing added flexibility when installing sauna heaters.
